Frequently Asked
Why do I have infections frequently?
This is a basic question women ask, because they treat vaginal infections more than men do. Women have these infections due to the nature of the vaginal environment encouraging the growth microorganisms. This is not to say only women have environments that support microorganisms’ growth, it is just has more open surface area compared to men’s penis hole. Please, this is the drug (unlabeled) that was given to me at the hospital, do you know what it is?
My advice here is to always make sure your drugs (removed from the original packaging) are well labelled in a dispensing envelope with the name and amount of the drug. An example is Diclofenac (name), 50 mg (amount). Click the link down below to learn more about this.
What do I do when I forget to take my drugs?
When you forget to take your drugs, you should take them as soon as you remember. However, if it is close to the time for the next dose (let’s say 3hours to next dose), you can wait it out and continue. It is important to contact a healthcare professional in case of these kinds of problems. Your doctor or pharmacist should put you through. Click the link down below to learn more about this.
I just had sex; how do I flush my system?
I am sorry but you cannot flush your system. If you are trying to prevent an infection or prevent pregnancy, you explain to your healthcare provider, and he/she will let you know what to do. Click the link down below to learn more about this.
I don't have an infection so why are you giving me antibiotics?
This is a common misconception that infections are only sexual organ infections (urinary tract infections), these things stem from half-baked information from previous treatments of sexually transmitted diseases. An infection is just the presence of unwanted microorganisms and viruses in the body, where they cause disruption of the normal function of the body. So, antibiotics treat bacterial infections, antifungals treat fungal infections etc. Do not be scared when certain drugs are given to you. It doesn’t automatically mean you have an STD (Sexually Transmitted Disease). Click the link down below to learn more about this.
When given a drug once a day, can I take in now and anytime tomorrow.
Drugs do not know the time of day. They don’t differentiate between day and night. Drugs are given to you based on how much time they are in the body before leaving. So, when taking your drugs, you should adopt the habit of taking your drugs based on hours, or minutes. Click the link down below to learn more about this.
When do I contact a pharmacist?
You can contact a pharmacist if you have any drug related problems. It is also important to have access to your doctor, it is best to liaise with the pharmacist to help you obtain a better quality of life. Click the link down below to learn more about this.
Give me this drug; give me that drug.
Unless you have a prescription, don’t go to a hospital or a pharmacy demanding drugs. Explain what you are feeling; I have malaria is not it. Allow the healthcare professional to make an objective decision to help provide you with a better therapeutic outcome. Click the link down below to learn more about this.
